I was asking if it would also be necessary to change 30 to 120. I suppose so.

I did.

The chat is not functional.

120x60= 7200 ;-)

Please, you can google "session.gc_maxlifetime" and many answers to graete a .htaccess

Thanks, Horseman! Editing away those other languages did the trick. Now the flags don't display, so there will be no errors. :-*

I tried the .htaccess file, and I got a 500 error. I deleted the .htaccess file and the chat started right away. I may have made a mistake when I made the file. Here's what I put:
Zitat
# Session lifetime 30 Minutes
php_value  session.gc_maxlifetime  7200
I uploaded it to the server as a .txt, then changed the name of the file to .htaccess

O! Do I need to make it say 120 Minutes?!?!?  :o
That works to make the chat come up, but when I type into the chat no words appear. :-\

you can go another way for the session lifetime

first: make a file named .htaccess input this line:
# Session lifetime 30 Minutes
php_value  session.gc_maxlifetime  1800
than upload this file in your chat ordner.
30 minutes * 60 seconds = 1800
you can change 1800 what do you want

Language
Only the en.inc for english language must installet to run the chat
all other languages only if you want

in the config.inc.php you must edit this line:
$supported_languages = array('en,de,tr,it............'); //first language will be choosenarray('en') only english is a language
en,de english and german language the user can change with this two languages and so on

Thank you, Horseman. I guess I don't have a root server. I have a regular website hosted on a regular domain. I think you mean I would need to have my own server, which I do not. So my chatters will get logged out after 24 minutes. I suppose we can deal with that.

On another note; I fried my entire chat tonight when I clicked on one of the flags. I know why, though, and it's because I deleted all those language files before I ever uploaded the openchat program. I see now that I will have to start off fresh with a clean install. Live and learn! I had wanted to trim down the application and have no need for all those languages, but I guess the chat just won't run without them.

httpd.conf or php.ini is a server system file. you can edit it only when you has a root server.

Hello,
What does this mean?
Zitat
7. Change configuration settings of Apache webserver in httpd.conf and PHP in php.ini
Increase the automatic time-out in /etc/php.ini. If you don't do this, people will be "logged out" of their sessions after ~24 minutes.
session.gc_maxlifetime = 86400

I do not know where httpd.conf or php.ini are located. ???

Are they in the database? ???

Hi Nigel. Thanks for responding. Yes, it must have been the 3.0.2 that I downloaded because I did see the instructions for phpBB and was so glad. I have put off installing it for now because I'm currently working with the phpBB3 beta 2 that just came out, but I will probably get back to trying to install phpOpenChat in the next few days. I'll come here to ask you questions.  ;D

you can integrate it with phpBB

which version did you download, as

version 3.0.2 has an install file with it that has instructions, as well as a file to integrate with phpBB
version 3.0.2p2 has tutorials in German but the install file and integration file are missing, although i used the 3.0.2 versions

you will also need to read your config.inc.php file as there are some settings you will want to change, (read my first post in this forum as i asked the same question)

Does this chat integrate with phpBB?

I have downloaded three different chats today, none of which worked for one reason or another. :-\

I don't want to waste my time on this one if

1) There's no English installation instructions.
2) It won't work with my phpBB forum.

Please advise. Thank you.  :-*
